Kharkiv’s artists Oleksandra and Artem Rohovyi were connected with Lviv through a story of evacuation from Kharkiv during the first days of the full-scaled invasion. A married couple has lived for a year in our city and returned to the familiar Kharkiv. A forced contact with our city has already caused a second personal exhibition in Lviv for Olexandra (first one took place in a cafe “Tovarystvo”). And also, before the series of gouaches with pictures of trees for Artem. She was the solution to a problem of lack of circumstances for creation of large-scale figurative works of Artem, which he was doing in his workshop in Kharkiv.

An exhibition of new, small-sized works of artists in Green Sofa Art Gallery, which is awaited by a big circle of admirers, Oleksandra and Artem have more than 100 000 followers on Instagram in total, will present their masterful realistic painting, so different from Lviv’s art school, and thus so interesting.

Oleksandra created a series “Bread” especially for the exhibition. She dreamt about it for a while, because that’s a “thing you don`t want to be vocal about”. And, of course, her vegetables. Potatoes with dill, beets, onions, peppers, green peas and carrots. Almost all of them are harvests from Kharkiv’s region, some from farmers of de occupied areas. Corn in exposition of a woman, who has returned in a mined village with the neighbors, with her own hands demined the fields. Oleksandra “was honored” to paint her first harvest after de occupation.

Artem will show the new works from the series “Trees”; which was created as a reaction to dramatic circumstances of time. However, in its essence, it departs from direct narrative and focuses on the visual and aesthetic substantiation of nature. This cycle gravitates towards a decorative landscape in its best traditions of an era of Secession, where the rhythm, color and plasticity of the form are key elements.

 Oleksandra Rohova was born in 1990. She grew up in the city of

Dokuchayevsk, Donetsk region. She lives in the city of Kharkiv.

In 2008, she studied at the Donetsk Art School.

She graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts in 2017, from the Department of Restoration of Works of Art.

Artem Rohovyi was born in 1988 in the village of Kegychivka, Kharkiv region. After graduating from 9 grades of secondary school in 2004, he entered the Kharkiv State Art College to study as an artist-teacher. In 2008, he entered the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts to study as a restoration of works of art. He began his creative activity in 2009. Since 2011, he has been a member of the MGO of the National Union of Ukrainian Artists.

Since 2009 – constant participation in all-Ukrainian exhibitions.
