At the first sight, an exhibition with iconographic works depicting the Virgin Mary, who’s holding a homophore above the church, filled with people, who hid inside from the occupant, against the background of a board painted with flowers – it’s a tribute to the Ukrainian folk painting.
But it is not quite that simple.

An exhibition has its own relevancy.
Because of:
🧣Intercession — is of supernatural strenght shelter for the innocent victims of attackers’ aggression. It is a might of air defense and army, who’s protecting our cities and countries full of civilians.
🧣Intercession — is a symbol of ukrainian army and cossacks. Who’s battling a primordial enemy for centuries.
🧣Intercession — is a faith in protection, universal maternal strenght, humane and protective.
Therefore, it is also about all of the mothers and women, who’s holding a cover of love above their children and everyone else in need.

Our ancestors used to use a painting from flowers, herbs, birds, animals and arabesques, realizing their artistic point of view of the world.
Nowadays, artists are turning to the aesthetics and developments of folk masters, to find a support in an ancient, certified for centuries foundation.

Besides twenty Flowered Intercessions there will also be a few disturbing works on an exhibition, because Ulyana is not a stranger to the theme of war in its different influences on a soul and circumstances.

Uliana Nyshchuk

Born in 1984 in Lviv.
She received her professional education at the Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after I. Trush (Department of Industrial Graphics) in 2000-2004 and at the Department of Monumental Painting of the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2004-2010).
She works in the technique of painting on levkas, using tempera, gilding, etc.
Field of interest: philosophy of arts, research of ethnocultures.
Artistic priorities: associative properties of the artistic image, anthropocentric trends in art, synthesis of ancient and modern.
