Maryana Klochko “The chaos of the coming day”. 29.07 – 17.08.25

Maryana Klochko is an artist, composer, and vocalist working at the intersection of visual art, sound, music, and film. At the Green Sofa Gallery, she will present her second solo exhibition.
Born in the Lviv region and a graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2015), Maryana now lives and works in Kyiv. Her new multimedia project combines drawing, photography, and an audiovisual piece.
Maryana’s graphic works from 2017–2025, created with simple tools—liners, pens, markers, charcoal—capture not events, but a way of thinking through images, internal states such as pause, tension, and the blur between the outer and inner. They are united by an observation of things that cannot always be pinned down. Series like “Diary,” “Six Variations of a Circle,” and “Left to Right” are sequences of images that do not seek completion, but create their own rhythm.
Maryana Klochko’s photographs from 2016–2025 reflect her love for noticing moments where seemingly nothing happens, but in this very “absence of event,” something begins to resonate. Series such as “Points of Support” and “Immersion” emerged in different years, but all of them explore presence, the body in space, the attempt to find balance, and the focus of attention.
The audiovisual work “IT FEELS LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD”, created in collaboration with Eden Girma, became a way to speak about distance and closeness, memory, loss, and a dialogue that happens across time and space. Images of Kyiv and New York intertwine, forming a shared dreamlike space where boundaries dissolve.
The exhibition opens on July 29 at 18:00.
Admission is free.
Opening hours: 12:00–19:00, Tuesday to Sunday.

Mariana Klochko
Born in the village of Lopatyn, Lviv region.
Studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2009–2015).
In 2019, she received a Gaude Polonia scholarship, within the framework of which she created the audio performance “Opera of the City” in Krakow.
She works with film music, experimental forms, and audiovisual works.
Her voice and compositions can be heard in the films “Plus One”, “The Tourist”, “Strimgolov”, “The War That Changed Rondo”, “Break the Circle”, and “Stop-Earth”. For the latter of them in 2021, she received two awards from the Ukrainian Film Academy: for best music and best song.
In 2022, she was included in the list of artists of the SHAPE+ platform, which supports innovative music and audiovisual art. In the same year, she wrote music for the theater project “Bailis” (JamFactory Art Center, Lviv).
Her track Forma Ozera was released in 2019 by the Brooklyn cassette label Jollies Records, and
her joint composition with Francesco Altilio, Search of Silence, was performed at the Tempo Reale festival in
Florence. She has participated in several sound residencies (V:UNCASE, PUMA MIRAGE CAMP) and a course on creating audio walks.
In her visual practice, she works with graphics, analog photography, and video.
For her, the ability to capture a state through images that is not always amenable to verbalization — internal shifts, pauses, breathing of space — is important. Drawing and photography for Maryana are a form of attention, an attempt to touch something elusive, to turn observation into structure.
She lives and works in Kyiv.
