«The Road to Oneself» by Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi. 15.10. – 10.11.2024.

Lviv sculptor, professor, and rector of the Lviv National Academy of Arts (2016-2021), Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi, will present his best works of bronze sculptures created between 1982 and 2024 at the Green Sofa Gallery. The exhibition, titled “The Road to Oneself,” reflects the artist’s thoughts on the constant path of self-knowledge and self-improvement, choices, and the search for one’s harmony with the world.

Opening of the exhibition — October 15, 6:00 PM.

Open from 12:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday to Sunday.

About Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi

Born in Lviv into the family of sculptor Vasyl Odrekhivskyi, he graduated from the Lviv Academy of Arts and pursued postgraduate studies at the Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School.

He obtained a Ph.D. in Art History at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of the USSR Academy of Arts in 1985. Volodymyr also completed an internship at the Higher National School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1992.

 

Among his notable public works are:

– Monument to Ivan Franko “Kamenyari” in Stryi (1986, with his father)

– Artistic memorial plaques to poets Bohdan-Ihor Antonych in Bortyatyno, Lviv region (1989)

– Memorial plaques to composers Stanislav Liudkevych and Vasyl Barvinskyi in Lviv (1991)

– Monument “Awakeners” (T. Shevchenko, I. Franko, Lesya Ukrainka) in Stryi, Lviv region

– Monument “Ukrainian Song” dedicated to Taras Shevchenko in Novyi Rozdil, Lviv region (1995 and 1997, with his father)

– Monument to Taras Shevchenko in Sevastopol, Crimea (2003, with his son)

– Sculpture “Bright Hope” at Groupe Environnement S.A. in Poissy, France

– Memorial composition “Greeting Life” dedicated to Bohdan-Ihor Antonych in Lviv (2018)

– Memorial to art critic Volodymyr Ovsiichuk at Lychakiv Cemetery, Lviv (2018)

– Commemorative sign “Poet and Bird” dedicated to Ivan Franko in Lovran, Croatia (2022, with his son).

 

Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi has held over forty exhibitions in France, including at the invitation of fashion designer Pierre Cardin (1992, The Hall of Pierre Cardin, Paris).

 

Notable exhibitions include the 5th Paris City Hall (2003), the 1st Paris City Hall (2004), and the European Parliament (2005, Strasbourg).

 

He has participated in over thirty art salons in France and received numerous international art awards.

In Ukraine, he has held several solo exhibitions, including at the National Museum in Lviv, and was a participant in the Great Sculpture Salons at the Ukrainian House from 2007 to 2012.

In 2005, he was awarded the T. Trush Regional Prize. In 2009, he was honored with the title of “People’s Artist of Ukraine.”
