Long shadows of the short Summer. Olha Kvasha painting. 26.09 – 22.10.2023
Olha Kvasha is artist, illustrator, teacher, and curator of the art club and school gallery “Vilni” at the The school of free and caring. During the exhibition Olha tells her incredible love story through her paintings.
“In contrast to the all-encompassing evil of war with its inhuman face, which has brought us destruction and death, we want to build, raise children, plant trees, and flowers…
To feel alive, I need to be in places of my strength.
For many years, Ukraine has given me its boundless love. Now my country needs this love from us.
I urge you to love every dandelion in the evening twilight,
All our loved ones, acquaintances, and strangers who are at war,
Our smart and talented children,
Beautiful, like well-baked bread, women,
The corners of loved ones’ lips,
Mothers who sing lullabies to their living and fallen n battle children,
Radiant faces of friends,
The funny ears of your cats and dogs,
Every book published during the war,
Ukrainian modern and baroque,
Golden enamel on the Oranta,
Ukrainian illustration and painting,
Ancient and contemporary Ukrainian music,
Our faith and compassion,
Our crystal-clear Independence…”,
Olha Kvasha says, and her paintings do as well.
