Anatoliy Furlet “The day that flies over us.” Painting. March 14 – April 9, 2023.

Ukraine is a miracle for me. There is nothing such beautiful as it in the world: fertile land, amazing people, customs, traditions, folklore, folk art, ancient mounds with their inexhaustible messages to us… This is the nourishing basis of my art process. And that makes me feel somehow selfishly happy that I was born right here on this earth.”

Artist from Chernivtsi Anatolii Furlet likes to work at home. But the events of the war forced him, although he continued to create every day, to be discouraged inside.

In 2022, Anatolii was lucky enough to go to the plein air in the south of France, which has been happening for many years in a row at the invitation to the guest house of the French artist of Ukrainian origin, Mr. Themistokle Virsta. This year, his widow – Mrs. Orysya – already took part.

“I always find something new in that Provence. My painting during such plein airs is not plein air in the classical sense. These are not sketchy landscapes of the azure coast, but my immediate stylization, spiritual processing of reflections. And also, I attracted a lot of Ukrainian to those French works.

As usual, in my work I develop complex compositions on the theme of signs and symbols of ancient Ukraine. Because I can’t make art without it. And as an artist, I cannot help but respond to the events of my time, so my every “day that flies by” is a hope for renewal, for art. This is the approach of a new life, and ultimately – Victory”.
