Top secret. Anna Atoyan. 20/11– 9/12/2012
Lvivian artist Anna Atoyan is well-known by her unique technique of painting on silk as well as by her constant creative experiments. Her previous exhibition in the Green Sofa Gallery was inspired by the Mexican revolutioner Emiliano Sapata.
Now Anna became interested in the story of British cubistic artist Norman Wilkinson who also was a British Navy officer during World War I. He elaborated a system of disguising the ships which made them invisible for the enemy. He painted them cubistically and totally ruining the form by asymmetric lines and colour squares. He often employed reversed prospective. He succeeded in creating the illusion of absence of a big object thus saving the ships from destruction.
Anna is sure to surprise us with unexpected allusions on this spy topic.
